IQNT

I worked 7 years for Inteliquent in Chicago. The first 6 years were find. I had went from $68,000 to $81,000 a year. The bosses were all great from the President from the company to the shift boss. For 2 years I worked the overnight alone with no supervisor on the shift. I did it well. Business had increased so the put 2 more guys on the shift. Both of them were great guys. It was close after they decided to put an actual shift manager on the shift. He was a great guy. I am not naming names on purpose. Don’t want one of those lawyer type to come after me.

THe great shift boss got a credit card to buy food for us on the graveyard shift when the other shifts had food given to them. He championed our shift as there was as bitch that was out to get me. She was shot down everytime. this went on until the company went public. I missed out having stock options by 6 months hired too late.

IQNT was bought by corporate raiders. They merged another company with us. It was fine as long as the General Manager stayed the same. Alas he resigned to take care of his elderly mother with Alzheimers. At the same time our great shift boss got a better job for him. The replacements were not good people. My time was coming close to an end. the bitch was listened to. They didn’t have any real reason to fire me. I wsa one of 3 guys making over $80,000. Two were given sites to be techs one. I was told one night after working 12 hours that I needed to talk with someone. The general manager was too much of wimp to say it himself. I was terminated be cause they need room in the NOC office for another guy. At least they gave me severance package that was decent. I have no respect for any of the managment form that time period.

though in the long run it was better for me. It was a highly stressful job. My bipolar bounce manic to depressive every 5 ro 6 weeks. I was eating clonazepam like candy. I was using 3 mg just to get through a night. My sleep was ragged. my quality of life was miserable. I work a long shift. Zombie drove home into the Sunrise. ate. Crashed and took more clonazepam and Ambien. Bad mix for sure.

Now that I out a NOC. they stress level has been much lower. I sleep better. I have lost a lot of weight. Got my diabetes under control. It was a blessing in the long run, but the way it was handled leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I wish them all the same experience..
